Article 1 – Control
They shall act under the direction of the Down Judge. The Downsbox and distance chain shall be positioned out of bounds.
Article 2 – Downsbox Position
The Downbox Official shall place the Downsbox at the point where the ball is to be scrimmaged, and indicate the number of each down on the Downsbox.
Article 3 – Distance Chain Position
The two Yardstick Officials shall place the distance chain as directed by the Down Judge.
Article 4 – 3rd Yardstick Official
If a 3rd Yardstick Official is used to hold a single marker rod on the sideline opposite the 10 yard (10 metre) objective line, but this marker will not be used to determine whether a first down has been gained. Under the direction of the Referee, penalties may be recorded.
